the west front of South Cottage

South Cottage seen from the west. The box hedge was like those at the best châteaux! Alas, in common with many including Monty Don, blight was badly affecting it so it's now replanted with yew. Which is looking great but you don't get a wonderful smell when the sun's on it. There are fragrant herbs in the shingle, though. The oval terrace catches the afternoon and evening sun - great for tea (or g and t). The grass is emphatically ‘grass’, not ‘lawn’ (our underground wildlife, the moles, see to that). But that's fine because it copes better with football games.
